Trauma

Therapy available in Philadelphia and online across Pennsylvania.

Living with trauma can feel like your mind and body are stuck in survival mode—long after the danger has passed.

Sometimes trauma comes from a single, life-altering moment.

Other times, it builds slowly through experiences that seem small at first, but accumulate until something inside knots up and freezes.

Whether you call it trauma with a big “T” or a small one, the result is the same: flow stops.

You may feel stuck, hyper-alert, anxious, or detached. You can’t stop thinking about what happened — or what might happen again.

You avoid reminders, try to stay in control, and do everything you can to prevent a repeat.

But those same efforts to stay safe eventually start to backfire.

You may find yourself saying things like:

“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get past this.”

“I just want to stop thinking about it.”

“I never want that to happen again — but now I’m afraid all the time.”

The goal isn’t to forget what happened. It’s to stop living in reaction to it.

Real healing means helping your system learn that it’s safe now — not just intellectually, but deep down in your body.

As Bessel Van Der Kolk would say:

“The body keeps the score.”

As Bessel Van Der Kolk would say:

“The body keeps the score.”

Using Heart Assisted Therapy (HAT), we work gently and directly with the part of you that’s still stuck.

This isn’t about analyzing or rehashing the past. It’s about untangling the knot and restoring flow.

When trauma is left untreated, the world feels dangerous — even when it isn’t. You feel guarded, tense, and disconnected from life. But when healing begins, so does relief:

You stop thinking about what happened all the time

You feel more grounded and less reactive

You begin to move through the world without constant fear

You make peace with what is — and free yourself to create something new

You can’t change something unless you accept it first

You don’t have to keep managing the pain.

If the fear of facing it has finally been outweighed by the cost of holding it — this may be the moment to begin.

I'm here when you’re ready.
